Understanding the concept of 100s and 1000s is easy when you have these Base Ten Maths Manipulative. Often used in Montessori classroom settings, children as young as 4 and 5 are able to visualise numbers in a tangible way.
The yellow cubes represents 1, the green rods represents 10s, the blue flats represents 100s and the red block represents 1000s. So if you were to get 342, you can get 3 of the blue flats, 4 of the green rods and 2 of the yellow cubes. A great one to one correspondence.
